ADMIN & REGISTRATIONS · REQUIRED

Empadronamiento (padrón municipal — register on your town’s census)

The padrón is your town hall's census entry saying "this person lives at this address" — and it quietly unlocks half of Spanish admin life: the health card, school places, residence procedures. It's a short appointment with your rental contract or proof of address, and it's free. If you do one piece of bureaucracy in your first week, make it this one.
WHEN IT'S DUE
As soon as it applies — this lands near the top of a roadmap, in the first weeks.
WHY IT MATTERS
A legal requirement for your situation. Verified against an official government source (AEAT, extranjería, BOE).

LOLA'S TIP
A short errand once your documents are ready — book the cita previa and tick it off.
Where does this fall in your move?
Whether this step even applies — and when it's due — depends on your passport, work, family and plans. Answer a few questions and Get Camino builds your full roadmap, every step in the right order with real deadlines.
