ADMIN & REGISTRATIONS · REQUIRED

Obtain your NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero, form EX-15) — required for nearly all official and financial transactions

The NIE is your foreigner identification number — not a residence permit, just the number Spain uses to know you're you. Almost everything financial or official (bank accounts, contracts, taxes, property) wants it, which is why it sits so early in your roadmap. Form EX-15 is the application; appointments are the usual bottleneck.
WHEN IT'S DUE
Due within 30 days after you arrive in Spain.
WHY IT MATTERS
A legal requirement for your situation. Verified against an official government source (AEAT, extranjería, BOE).

LOLA'S TIP
A short errand once your documents are ready — book the cita previa and tick it off.
Where does this fall in your move?
Whether this step even applies — and when it's due — depends on your passport, work, family and plans. Answer a few questions and Get Camino builds your full roadmap, every step in the right order with real deadlines.
