Enroll in the Convenio Especial to buy into public healthcare — available after 1 year of continuous residence + empadronamiento; monthly premium €60 (under 65) or €157 (65+)
The Convenio Especial is Spain's buy-in to public healthcare for residents who don't yet contribute through work: a flat monthly premium (the title's figures, tiered by age) in exchange for the public system's cover. It becomes available after the title's year of continuous, padrón-registered residence — a common upgrade path for non-lucrative residents once private premiums start to sting.
WHEN IT'S DUE

WHY IT MATTERS
